Job Advert

We are looking for an additional person to join the team as an Operative Highway & Street Lighting.

We maintain the public highway by carrying out the highways and drainage works on a day to day basis in accordance with Works Orders received to ensure a safe highway network.

Working with fellow Operatives to carry out Highway and Drainage works, using appropriate plant, vehicles and materials, in accordance with the specifications. We also assist in Winter Maintenance operations over the cold weather months of any given year.

 

The ideal candidate will have Practical knowledge and experience in Highway Maintenance with the below attributes.

 

HEA 210 Working in the vicinity of Electricity company equipment or G39 Electrical Safety training or be willing to be trained to the required standard.

 

NRSWA card, or CSCS Card and NHSS 12D for Temporary traffic management, or be willing to be trained to the required standard.

 

A good level of literacy and numeracy and be able to speak fluent English at a level appropriate to carry out the role and have skills and abilities to communicate with operatives, supervisor, managers and customers.

 

Able to work independently and as part of a team.

 

Must be able to work under pressure and achieve deadlines.

 

Be computer literate and be able to use tablets / handhelds to ensure that works are carried out in accordance with the works order, details recorded and works are closed off using these devices, or be willing to be trained to the required standard.

 

A good working knowledge and understanding of health and safety issues associated with this post, knowledge of working to Risk Assessments, Method Statements and Safe Systems of Work and knowledge of traffic management requirements.

 

Full clean driving licence and HGV qualification or be willing to be trained to the required standard.

 

Experience associated with Winter maintenance gritter driving, or be willing to be trained to the required standard.
