Job Advert

We are looking for Senior Clerk of Works in the Highway & Developer Infrastructure Team at Bedford Borough Council. You will work within the team to check that all S38 and S278 developer-led projects are suitably delivered on site. Key responsibilities will include site inspections, reviewing the material specification and tests, liaison with the contractors and developers and reporting back to the Senior Engineer/Team Leader.

 

You will be joining an engaging and supportive team, whilst working for an employer who is committed to supporting people, enhancing places, and empowering communities.

 

The successful candidate will have:

· Membership of a professional body, such as ICE, IHE or CIHT;

· Excellent experience in the inspection of highway works, including the construction of new housing estate roads;

· Excellent understanding of site health and safety requirements and the application of the CDM regulations;

· Confidence in highlighting defects and resolving conflicts in a pragmatic way;

· A full valid driving licence for the UK or be able to otherwise travel to sites around the Borough in an efficient manner.

Location: Hybrid / Bedford Borough Hall

Salary: £33,024per annum

+ £4,000 market rate supplement (subject to annual review)

+ £2,000 retention payment paid after 2 years’ service
