We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic person to join the team at The Higgins Art Gallery and Museum, Bedford as a full time permanent Learning and Outreach Officer.


Your role will be to provide engaging formal and informal learning and outreach programmes and facilitate access to museum collections and resources, both onsite for visitors and through outreach initiatives in the local community.
Main duties include working alongside staff, volunteers and freelance creative practitioners to manage the design and delivery of history and art workshops for school groups across all ages. Also to develop and implement annual programmes of high quality creative activities for families in school holidays and sessions for children under 5 supported by Arts Council England.
You will need to demonstrate experience of teaching and preparing learning resources, developing and delivering programmes for culturally diverse audiences, collaborating with community organisations and developing new partnerships plus project monitoring and evaluation. You will have current knowledge of the National Curriculum, safeguarding issues and subjects relevant to our collections. You will have the ability to manage third party providers, support volunteers, promote learning programmes, administer bookings and maintain rooms used for activities and events.


DBS checks will be required -  Job share applicants will be considered.
