We are recruiting to a new Renters Rights Environmental Health Officer role as part of our response to the Renters Rights Act.

You will play a key role in protecting tenants and improving standards in the private rented sector by investigating alleged breaches of landlord and tenant legislation. This includes concerns such as unlawful eviction, harassment, discrimination and unfair rent practices.

You will manage your own caseload, undertake investigations, gather evidence and support enforcement action, whilst also engaging with tenants and landlords to resolve issues at an early stage. You will also work closely with colleagues across the wider Housing, Environmental Health and Legal Services teams.


 We are looking for someone with experience of investigating complaints and managing casework, good knowledge of housing and landlord and tenant legislation particularly the Renters Rights Act, strong communication skills, the ability to gather and assess evidence and prepare case files, a collaborative approach to working with colleagues and partner services and a commitment to supporting residents and delivering fair outcomes.

Bedford Borough Supporting Futures Team are recruiting additional Personal Advisors as we strive to continue to develop our Local Offer to Care Experienced young people.

We also aim to further develop as a service following our last SIF.

We are seeking enthusiastic candidates to join our busy, friendly Team and who have a keen interest in working with young people/young adults as they prepare for Adulthood.

As a Personal Advisor you will work with Care Experienced young people age 18 to 25 years in a statutory capacity, supporting them to successfully transition to adulthood. The work will include working with separated and migrant young people so an interest and knowledge in this area of work would be beneficial.

Pathway Planning enables this work to progress with young people, their families and/or carers to ensure they achieve their aspirations in all aspects of their lives.

You will also undertake Duty alongside team colleagues. You will receive induction and regular supervision, as well as regular training linked to your annual Personal Progress Discussion.

You will need a full driving licence and access to a car.
